On our first day, we drove from Rome to our friend's villa in Vergelle. We called in at Pitigliano on the way, an old, working town on the southern edge of Tuscany

An original Fiat 500, like mine, parked on the outskirts of the town centre. |

The town walls showing it's elevation |

We had lunch in this wine bar which not only had an excellent selection of wine but a small menu of locally sourced food - the cured meats were quite delicious! The owner is passionate and knowledgeable about the local producers. |
This waterfall is hidden in the town. |
We couldn't find out the origins of this, but it is a superb bronze of a worker & his donkey, placed in the town square. |
A late lunch being enjoyed. |
The main town has a large number of alleys and steps, mostly only accessible on foot. |
These two, who I do not think were related, were determined to have their photo taken. |
